How does a fractional GM differ from a management consultant?
Mandate
Weekly presence, defined exit.
A typical mandate runs six to twelve months. Two to three days a week on-site is the baseline; more during onboarding and closing. Reporting line is ownership, board or operating partner of the fund. Exit is agreed on day one, not negotiated at the end.
Fee is a fixed monthly retainer, no success fees, no equity. This is the opposite of the executive search model, where the placement fee is typically twenty five to thirty five percent of the first-year package.

Frequent questions
Fractional GM vs interim GM, is there a difference?
Yes. Fractional means part-time and typically open-ended, two or three days a week for a long horizon. Interim means full engagement for a defined period, six to twelve months, with a clean exit. I work interim; fractional is available on request for smaller companies.
How fast can you start?
Two to four weeks from the first call to on-site day one. In urgent replacement cases, one week is possible.
What size of company?
Italian mid-market: revenues fifteen to two hundred fifty million euro. Ownership structure can be family, PE portfolio, or founder-led scale-up.
